Abuse. Addiction. Violence. Fear. Not the hallmarks of a happy childhood. And yet this is the sad reality for many Tucson children. At Jewish Family & Children’s Service, we strive to close the gap between how childhood should be and how it often sadly is. By providing innovative programs, counseling services and direct assistance, we change the lives of children every day.

But before children and their families can turn to us, we must turn to you. We can’t do it alone. If you think your contribution doesn’t make a difference, consider this -- Your gift is directly related to the number of children we can serve. Through your donation you help improve the lives of families and provide critical intervention, education and compassion.

Children are a tremendous gift. To be happy, healthy, and most of all safe, is a birthright all children deserve. All children should be able to grow up in a home free from violence and fear. As parents, we want only good things for our children.

But a childhood protected from fear and abuse is not the reality for far too many children in our community. Last year, over 5,000 children under the age of 17 came to Jewish Family and Children’s Service for help. Some were victims of sexual assault. Some came because their households were broken by divorce or domestic abuse. Others came because a parent was struggling with substance abuse and the whole family needed healing.

Ninety-five percent of the people served by JFCS are living below the poverty level and literally cannot afford to go elsewhere for help.

This is why we are asking you to join us in doing something important to change the lives of children today. You can make a positive difference in our community by becoming a Friend of JFCS. Our annual JFCS Friends Campaign exists to provide programs throughout the agency that help children and families. A donation of any size is truly appreciated and shows you are willing to make a commitment as a Friend of JFCS and stand up for our children.
