Volunteer Opportunities

We appreciate your interest in volunteering with us!

We include volunteers in the work of the agency in a variety of ways, with flexible scheduling and a focus on the interests of each volunteer. Use your expertise or try something new!

We have a need for volunteers who give their time on a regular, ongoing basis, as well as seasonal volunteers.

Volunteers who have direct contact with clients are required to have a current Fingerprint Clearance Card with the State of Arizona. JFCS can help volunteers with this process.

Ongoing Opportunities

Program/Department office support

Do you have an interest in philanthropy, accounting, community services, facilities, or another program or department? Many need assistance with data entry, filing, word processing, answering phones, and other office support. Enjoy the camaraderie of an office environment and the appreciation of our staff!

Senior Companions

This program is hosted by Our Family Services. JFCS participates in the program and recruits senior companion volunteers to help JFCS clients who are 60+ and/or disabled and need help to live independently at home. Services are free to clients. Senior companion volunteers are 55+ who can give 15-30 hours per week. Qualified senior companions who are part of this program receive a financial stipend.

Seasonal Opportunities

Matza & More

For more than 40 years, we have delivered Passover Seder groceries to families in need in Tucson.  In partnership with synagogues in Tucson and local businesses, JFCS volunteers deliver baskets of Kosher groceries for Seder. Volunteers pick up donated food, set up and pre-package food, assemble the baskets and deliver them to selected families.

Mitzvah Magic

In 2009, the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona and and JFCS of Southern Arizona started a program that brings together circles of women several times a year to create baskets of food and gifts for Jewish families in need. The anonymity of the families is closely guarded. Telephone outreach volunteers are needed to engage givers.
