JFCS Presents FlaMEXico at Fox Tucson Theater

Jewish Family & Children’s Services of Southern Arizona (JFCS) is excited to host an enchanting evening of multicultural music and dance at the historic Fox Tucson Theatre on Sunday, September 8 from 2:30 to 5:30pm.

JFCS proudly presents Jácome Flamenco’s nationally-acclaimed ¡FlaMÉXico! — a unique concert experience that blends Spain’s Gypsy and Flamenco distinctive musical and dance style with the rich melodies of Mexico’s Mariachi and charro music. The passion of ¡FlaMÉXico! and the skill of this world-class ensemble of musicians, singers and dancers create a riveting celebration of culture that is not to be missed!

Often described as the “Blues” of Southern Spain, dating as far back as the 15th-Century. Flamenco evolved out of the traditions of several cultures including those of the Gypsies, the Moorish Arabs, the Sephardi Jews and the indigenous Southern peoples of Spain.

“My shows and my music are a celebration of culture. My inspiration comes from my Mexican heritage combined with the richness of flamenco. Through ¡FlaMÉXico! we capture the grace and passion of charro and gypsy music, creating a one-of-a-kind tapestry of music and dance.”— Chris B. Jácome

There will also be a special guest performance by the Classical music duo: violinist Anna Gendler and pianist Alexander Tentser during the reception from 2:30 to 3pm.

A violinist for the Tucson Symphony String Quartet, Anna trained at the Moscow Conservatory while Alexander studied piano at the Russian Music Academy and later completed doctoral studies at the University of Arizona. For the past 28 years, the Jewish Russian-born husband and wife team have made Tucson their home. As performing musicians and faculty members at Pima Community College, Anna and Alexander’s individual and combined talents and accomplishments have contributed in countless ways to the Jewish community and the enrichment of Tucson’s diverse musical culture.

In keeping with our mission to reduce health inequities and foster cultural awareness, Jewish Family & Children’s Services of Southern Arizona is proud to host this wonderful multi-cultural event in memory of Fred Fruchthendler, Past Chair of JFCS and esteemed community leader. Proceeds from ticket sales and donations will go toward direct mental health and community services.

TICKETS ARE $25, $40 or $60 per person (based on seat selection). ON SALE NOW at Fox Theater or charge by phone (520) 547-3040
